Bong County Senator, Dr. Henrique Flomo Tokpa, has described as untrue widespread reports that he went to the United States of America for advanced medical treatment.

After he was pronounced as winner of the recent Senatorial by-election in Bong County, Dr. Tokpa left Liberia for the US.

Days upon his departure from Liberia, it was widely speculated in Bong County that the Senator was sick and went to the US for advanced medical attention.

But, contrary to the speculations, Senator Tokpah who just returned to Liberia maintains that he did not go to the US for medical treatment.

He claimed to have gone to the US to lobby on behalf of the people of Bong County for development assistance.

He noted that as Senator of Bong County, it is important that he fulfills promises he made to the electorate during past campaign period.

According to him, Bong County stands to benefit a lot from his recent trip abroad.

Senator Takpa said while in the US, he worked to strengthen relations with Maryland and Bong County. He also disclosed that he solicited medical materials from some partners. He said Bong County will shortly benefit from his work abroad.

When quizzed by reporters on how he is going to reconcile the County leadership as he promised Bong County electorate during the recent campaign for the senatorial by-election, Senator Tokpa responded  that “reconciliation is a process and not an event.”

He told Reporters that with the level of experience he has in leadership, he will gradually reconcile the Bong County Legislative Caucus.

He maintains that when this is done, Bong County will move forward with genuine peace and development.
