Gabriel Johns’ men were buried 5-0 by high flying FC Fassell, while
LISCR FC took all three points despite Aries FC putting up a
determinedperformance on Wednesday in the kickoff of the second phase
of the Liberia Football Association (LFA) topflight League.
A contented LPRC Oilers squad failed to shine against FC Fassell
following their 5-0 win over Aries last week as they were dumped on
similar score line by Matthew Julutweh’s men on Wednesday at the
Antoinette Tubman Stadium (ATS) in Central Monrovia.
Sam Kollie scored in each half before Aloysius Symujlah, Kesselly Kamara and substitute VitalisSie sealed the goal feast.
Defender Aloysius Symujlah got Fassell on the way 9th minute with a
stunning shot, before Sam Kollie made it 2-0 four minutes later.
The experienced LPRC Oilers squad that were boosted with the
likesQuejay Continental, Bennie Tisdell, James Soto Roberts, Teku Nah,
and SolomonWesseh, among others failed to rise to the moment, thus
allowing Fassell to dominate proceedings on the night.
The ‘Soccer Missionaries’ returned from the break in firing form with
striker Kollie who has been sidelined by injury since the team was
flushed out of the CAF Confederation Cup in February netting his second
on the night in the 60th minute.
Laos returnee Kesselly Kamara made it 4-0 in the 75th minute before
skipper VitalisSie who started from the bench sealed the win with less
than four minutes remaining on the clock.
The win keeps FC Fassell in second place with 11 points, tied on points
with NPA Anchors who defeated Keitrace FC 3-0 on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, LISCR FC remained glued at the top of Group ‘B’ table with 15 points following their 3-2 win over Aries FC.
New signing Christopher Jackson scored twice before DomincJarteh
grabbed the winner. Aloysius Glassco and Thomas Kpehe scored the
cancellation for Aries.
It was Aries who made the first attempt in the match. TambaGboliehit
the bar in four minutes after colleting a free-flow pass from Boakai
Paasewe on the edge of the LISCR area.
But LISCR reacted summarily with striker Christopher Jackson who
joined LISCR FC from strugglers Keitrace FC opening the scoring 12
minutes from kickoff.
The long-limbedforward signed as Mohamed Varney replacement following
the forward reported departure from the Country for greener pasture
jumped through the sluggish Aries defense before tapping the ball in the
net.
Former Fatu FC forward Dominic Jarteh made it 2-0 in 27th minute.
Jarteh capitalized on lethargic defending by Benjamin Davies to fire
home a superb goal. The Aries skipper allowed a MomoKaidii’s left-wing
cross to beat him thus lending on the leg of goal-thirsty Jarteh who
wasted no time, but to blast Galley James with a magnificent strike.
Aries, despite of trilling 2-0, kept attacking and their quest yielded
result in the 38th minute. Aloysius Glassco headed home Musa Bah’s
delicious free-kick after goalkeeper Tommy Songo failed to clear the
ball from the danger area after coming out of his pole.
But LISCR FC made themselves comfortable back from the break with
Jarteh setting up Jackson for the third goal. The former LFA topflight
Most Valuable Player (MVP) overpowered Aries left-back before conveying a
fantastic cross for Jackson who soared past the Aries defense to head
home an extraordinary goal in the 68th minute.
But Aries again reacted swiftly, but that could not help them secure
their second draw in the topflight since the promotion as they have lost
every other match with huge goal margin beside their 1-1 draw against
NPA in the first phase.
Thomas Kpehe got one back lately. Great work by substitute Richmond
Togba left the forward with the chance of tapping the ball into the
LISCR FC’s net and he did just that to reawaken Aries but it was too
late for them to fight back.
The league will continuetoday with Nimba United travelling to Kakata
City to take on Watanga FC at the Nancy B. Doe Sports pitch at 4pm.
Barrack Young Controller (BYC) will battle Monrovia Club Breweries at
2p.m. at the ATS, while Invincible Eleven (IE) are at the bottom of
